The Surreal Landscape:
Information Professionals Mastering the Challenges of Time & Space
Join your colleagues for an exciting conference experience scheduled at the end of February in sunny St. Petersburg, Fla., at the beautiful Hilton Carillon.
SARC is hosted every three years by the chapters of the South Atlantic Region of SLA and the 2008 conference is one you won’t want to miss. Keynote speakers are SLA President-elect Steven Abram and Dr. Graham Farmelo, Senior Research Fellow at the Science Museum in London. Dr. Farmelo is an international consultant in the public dimensions of science and is author of a forthcoming book on noted scholar and Nobel Prize winner, Paul Dirac. In addition to many other interesting speakers (possibly even a NASA astronaut!) there will be panel discussions ranging from the challenges of creating new libraries from scratch, “going digital,” and Second Life in the library and instruction world.
Keeping with the theme of the conference, a special evening event at the world-famous Salvador Dali Museum is planned the evening of the 28th. Click here for a sneak preview of the museum.
Make plans to attend SARC IV and note these two upcoming deadlines:Â early-bird registration for the conference ends *January 15, 2008* and special rates at the Hilton Carillon (a first-class business hotel, wireless throughout) end *January 27*.Â
