The Hernando County Public Library invites you to attend the second annual Hernando History Festival: Ghosts from Our Past on Saturday, November 8th at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation in Brooksville. This is a free community event featuring programs by historians from around the state as well as some of our local favorites. We will have three sessions running concurrently throughout the day.

In the main dining room we will be featuring:
Alligators in B-flat: Improbable Tales from Real Florida with Jeff Klinkenberg
Archaeology Works: Materials Science with Nigel Rudolph of the Florida Public Archaeology Network
Blood on the Burial Mound with David Letasi of the Historic Hernando Preservation Society
Also on display will be Spirits of the Passage: The Story of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, a pop up museum exhibit from the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum.

Local History Live, a conversation with Frasier Mountain
DIY Oral History with Reese Bernier of the Hernando County Public Library System

Memory Preservation: DIY Photo Scanning with Brittany McGarrity and Elin Tate of the Hernando County Public Library System
Hernando Epitaphs: Cemeteries and Memorials of Hernando County with Linda Welker and Jan Kalnbach of the Hernando Historical Museum Association
Attendees will be able to try three different crafts throughout the day – Seminole dolls, DIY butter, and church dolls. We have numerous exhibits and vendors planned, including the Hernando Historical Museum Association, Historic Hernando Preservation Society, Friends of Chinsegut Hill, and Florida Memory and music by Dixie Blue
