Online Safety (2 Part)

Hacking! Cookies! Malware! Privacy! The online world has more pitfalls than ever.  During this interactive two-part session, we will explore how to safely navigate the web and our mobile phones.   We will discuss:

  • Overall privacy issues and some solutions
  • Threats to online security
  • How to best prepare our users to stay safe in the digital age.

Attendees will be asked to work on short thought pieces between classes to facilitate discussion.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop will be delivered in two parts, the first on Tuesday March 15th, and the second on Thursday March 17th. Registering here will register you for both sessions.

Instructor ~ Diana Silveira
Diana Silveira is the President of Novare Library Services, a company that focuses on web, mobile and infrastructure services for libraries. Previous to starting Novare Library Services, she was the Virtual Reference Manager for Florida’s Ask a Librarian Service and coordinator for Florida’s Statewide Delivery System. She presents regularly on implementing technology, best practices and privacy issues online. She also works with libraries to deploy new technologies and develop new mobile and desktop websites.
