Elling Eide Center Research Library and Preserve

We at TBLC are so excited to introduce our latest member library, the Elling Eide Center, a private research library and nature preserve overlooking Little Sarasota bay.
The research library at the Elling Eide Center is a leading resource for Asian Studies in the southeastern United States. It contains over 60,000 volumes covering every period of Chinese history from ancient times to the modern era. An extensive collection of scholarly journals numbers more than 300 titles from around the world.
In the interview below, we spoke with Asian Collections Curator and Research Specialist Ann Roddy, who gave us a tour of the library, a fascinating history of the center’s founding, as well as her very special career background (including serving as a cultural advisor for Academy Award winning movie The Last Emperor).
