TBLC Workshop
Introducing RDA: 1 Structure, Principles and Core Elements

In this two-hour live online class, an overview of Resource Description and Access (RDA) is presented, with a focus on its structure, its general principles and supporting concepts, and the core elements it defines for bibliographic records.

Description:

This live online class one 2-hr. module provides an introduction to RDA (Resource Description and Access), the proposed next edition of cataloging rules to replace AACR2 (the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed.). We'll look at how RDA's rules are structured, its basis in the Functional Requirements of Bibliographic Records(FRBR), its overarching principles (such as 'transcribe what you see'), and the data elements it specifies as core to a bibliographic record.

The online RDA Toolkit will not be utilized in this class, which focuses on RDA's content and not the functionality of the online tool.
