Florida Navigator

The Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC), the State’s Division of Library and Information Services, and  OCLC launched a resource sharing project last September called Florida Navigator.

Florida Navigator is a patron initiated ILL service that is free to any interested Florida library.  Through Navigator, patrons request from other Navigator libraries.  It authenticates them against the local patron database, takes advantage of the statewide library Delivery service, and reduces staff workload at the front end and back end of an ILL request.

It serves as an easy-to-use layer of accessibility between local requests and full OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing or ILLiad requests. The first wave of 23 participating libraries is up and running, and TBLC is now recruiting for the next wave. Interested libraries should contact Al Carlson at 813-622-8252 ext 237 or at carlsoa@tblc.org.

This project is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
