Accomplishments

  • Re-Energized Member Services: keeping libraries & staff connected by growing & developing relationships
  • CE & Training: successful & reinvigorating shift to web-based training & hosting, 70+ sessions a quarter
  • E-Books: Keeping our members & the state of Florida “in the know” with current trends
  • Ask a Librarian: As everyday life shifts to handheld devices, so do users with texting and mobile chat
  • Florida Library Navigator: TBLC is implementing OCLC’s Navigator Light ILL product statewide
  • Strong Services: The economy may be bad, but the service to our members remains strong & focused
  • Effective Advocacy: TBLC plays a big role in statewide library advocacy and promoting the library brand
  • TBLC Service Area: Increases by 5 counties to 18 and membership grows by 11 to 118

Ask a Librarian

Ask a Librarian provides statewide virtual reference to over 120 participating libraries.

  • 75,712total sessions
    • 53,697 total chat sessions
    • 16,617 total email sessions
    • 5,398 total texting sessions

Bibliographic Services

TBLC supports members in adding resources to the Florida database on OCLC WorldCat.

  • 37 libraries loaded 259,126 records, with 8,121 requiring manual matching by TBLC staff
  • 27 libraries participated in CatExpress and added 24,230 MARC records from OCLC

Continuing Education

TBLC provides innovative online training for librarians throughout the state of Florida.

  • 3,061 librarians participated in continuing education classes for a total of 409 hours
    • 327 participants in 30 face-to-face classes
    • 2,427 participants in 158 online webinars
    • 307 participants in 84 on-demand sessions

Delivery

The orange bag DLLI service transports library material throughout the state.

  • 272,721 orange bags were sent between participating libraries
  • Approximately 436,354 library materials were exchanged
  • Estimated Savings $754,550, or $1.73 per item

Group Purchases

TBLC coordinates group purchase of electronic resources for participating member libraries.

  • $302,195.78 was spent  on Novelist, Tumblebooks, Facts.com, ProQuest Big Chalk, ProQuest Safari, ProQuest Ancestry, and OverDrive, saving libraries money

Interlibrary Loan – Florida Navigator

TBLC manages group billing for interlibrary loan subscriptions for 47 members. Florida Navigator serves 21 libraries as an easy-to-use layer of accessibility between local requests and full OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing for ILLiad requests.

Reciprocal Borrowing

Participants share resources, allowing users from other partner libraries to check out materials.

  • 38 participating libraries had 46,323 registered borrowers
  • 289,065 items were circulated through the system
